Global innovation met local action last week at University of California, Riverside, where we welcomed members of the Los Angeles Consular Corps to campus for a powerful dialogue on economic development, international collaboration, and foreign direct investment.
Diplomats from 21 countries joined university leadership, government officials, and industry stakeholders to explore how Inland Southern California can serve as a strategic entry point for global companies seeking to grow in the U.S. market.
From workforce development to entrepreneurship to soft landing pathways, this convening showcased the region’s growing reputation as a launchpad for innovation-driven partnerships.

Eight startups compete for top honors at 2025 Riverside County Riverside Regional Fast Pitch, Glid wins 1st place
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (April 18, 2025) – The Riverside Regional Fast Pitch, hosted at ExCITE Riverside, brought together eight standout startups from across the region to compete for top honors as part of this year’s countywide pitch competition series.
Held on April 17, the event spotlighted entrepreneurs from diverse industries, each delivering a three-minute pitch to a panel of expert judges and live audience. The competition showcased groundbreaking solutions ranging from advanced mobility to fire safety to environmental preservation.

This past year alone, and thanks to our sponsors, we delivered more than $500,000 in direct grants and resources to our portfolio of students, faculty and community entrepreneurs, so they can conduct technical and market validation, secure new customers and build out our region’s ecosystem. This investment is complemented with more than 2,000 hours of business mentorship delivered through our INNOVAR and Zero-to-Entrepreneur workshops and direct client mentoring sessions. All of these efforts are transforming UCR and our region in a destination for innovation, entrepreneurship and prosperity.
