From 125 nominations across the Launchpad network, UCR undergraduate William Wang founder of Dashbill was one of 50 participants chosen for the Blackstone LaunchPad & Techstars Spring Fellowship. His startup is aimed towards collecting dues and budgeting from student organizations. William came up with the idea from personal experience as a Vice President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at UCR and ASUCR. He found it difficult to manually create the system for organizing dues and other expenses and the services that were actually available charged exorbitant amounts of money.
William has participated in UCR’s Launchpad program before. Initially, he was introduced to the program through his friend who was also an entrepreneur working on his startup idea and receiving mentorship through the program. Since that initial introduction, he has found benefit in not only the resources provided but the networking with other student entrepreneurs and experienced mentors. For the Spring Fellowship, he is hoping to learn how to approach issues with an entrepreneurial mindset that can only be taught outside of formal education.
During the 8-weeks of the fellowship, William will receive a $5,000 grant to continue developing his startup as well as coaching sessions with our UCR’s LaucnPad Campus Director. In addition to that, he will attend workshops organized by Future Founders, access mentors from Blackstone employees and Techstars advisors, and network with like-minded student founders.
