Meet Your Instructors
Isabelle Bart
Isabelle Bart is passionate about creating innovative and impactful enterprises to solve the world’s greatest challenges. Isabelle has supported many impact startups through her involvement with the SBDC as an Expert in Residence at UC Riverside providing strategic consulting to startups, as well as her role as a mentor and advisor in bluetech and sustainability. She is currently a regional lead instructor for the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program, an immersive and entrepreneurial training program that facilitates the transformation of invention to impact..
Her professional experience includes more than 20 years in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors, working in leadership roles for global companies, where she was responsible for business planning, marketing strategy and digital transformation.
She was named one of the “Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise” by Euclid Network in 2023 and nominated for the LA Times 2024 Orange County Inspirational Women
Isabelle holds a Masters in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School in Paris, France.
Philip Topham
Philip Topham is the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UC Riverside’s Office of Technology Partnerships, where he helps deep tech innovators turn breakthrough research into scalable businesses. With a background in AI strategy and startup acceleration, Philip brings a pragmatic lens to emerging technologies—guiding teams from lab to market.
An early adopter of generative AI, Philip specializes in applying AI to uncover commercial opportunities, automate business processes, and sharpen go-to-market strategies. He draws on 15+ years of experience founding companies, advising startups, and serving on boards across tech, biotech, and energy.
At UCR, he mentors researchers and entrepreneurs on customer discovery, business model development, and AI-enhanced commercialization pathways—bridging the gap between technical brilliance and real-world impact.
